Bikram Yoga Makati: The Perfect 90-Minute DeTox

Bikram Yoga Makati

WIM Contributor Debbie with James a.k.a “Half Moon” of Bikram Yoga L.A Headquarters

I was fortunate enough to join a special class by James a.k.a Half Moon. He is an instructor from from the corporate office in L.A. Despite his big name in Yoga, he is still very humble and approachable.

I was able to do a chit-chat with him for a while. James Half Moon told me that he likes living in a busy city. He is a nurse by profession. But in the middle of that business feeling, he finds it good to slow down and take Bikram Yoga. He was also encouraging about me trying and learning further. He mentioned about RajaShree and how I can learn more about Bikram by checking her website.

The class started on time with some of the Yogini and Yogi who already stayed earlier in the room for preparation. We started with yoga breathing. And later on moved on to the postures. He mentioned skin to skin, bone to bones with every bit of our body meditating. It was a wholistic approach that represents oxygen going through your blood vessels, organs and whole body.

There was even some laughter in-between when we groaned and some poses were challenging. But he was able to sustain the group’s energy and motivate the ones like me who took some time off in the middle of the class. I particularly like the fact that he told us to meditate and concentrate and ask God to help us. Yoga isn’t just about our bodies; its being in a higher form of being.

MY overall experience:

It felt as if I had a massage and a workout at the same time. And surprisingly, I didn’t feel sore or tired the following day! I give my full recommendation for anyone to check them out. It is only at the beginning of the practice where you will need some time to adjust with the temperature, but once you get into the breathing, everything will flow naturally. You just need to focus on the instructions.

Please do consult your doctor first if you have some present illnesses that you feel may be a hindrance for this activity, though.
