Local nine-piece folk-pop band Ben&Ben’s music seems to be crossing borders after fans discovered that they suddenly started trending on South Korea.
A page dedicated to sharing updates of YG Entertainment artists, such as Blackpink and iKon, posted a screenshot of the Melon Realtime Search Chart on Wednesday, July 22, which showed the band taking the top spot followed by their song “Leaves.”
“A Filipino Band Ben&Ben is currently trending #1 and also occupied the #2, #3, #6, and #7 position on Melon Realtime Search Chart โ 19:40 KST,” the page said.
After having learned about it, Ben&Ben reposted it on their social media and wrote: โWoah this is crazy. Weโre trending in South Korea.”
A lot of fans may not know why they started trending in the Korean music streaming chart, but we might know the reason. Earlier this week, two artists from different Kpop groups mentioned listening to them to their fans. NCT’s Mark Lee, in particular, played “Leaves” during a live stream while Day6’s Young K called the song “really good” and “amazing.”
