Ben&Ben is collaborating with a new artist and, this time, it’s with a Pinoy rock icon.
In a teaser post shared on the band’s social media pages, they revealed to fans and friends that their third collaboration for their upcoming studio album is with Parokya Ni Edgar’s frontman Chito Miranda which they called “a dream come true.”
“3/6 collabs revealed! Our collab song with Sir Chito Miranda will be part of our sophomore album, out on Aug. 29,” they wrote as they shared a poster showing all the people they’ve collaborated with so far–namely, Moira Dela Torre and Munimuni.
The poster also included a screenshot of a video call with the rockstar. “Sobrang dream come true neto! Salamat Sir Chito! (This is a dream come true! Thank you, sir Chito!)”
The artists also discussed their upcoming song on a Facebook livestream. Chito admitted that he felt intimidated upon hearing the song that was sent to him by Ben&Ben and expressed excitement over the fact that it won’t be anything fans have ever heard from the folk-pop act before.
“Honestly, I never get intimidated pero dito, na-intimidate talaga ako (but here, I was really intimidated). I didn’t know what I was going to expect. I was hoping for a type of song na ganito pero (like this but) when you gave me the song, sabi ko, ‘Ibang klase talaga ‘to’ (I said, ‘This is really unique’). Out of everyone’s comfort zone, I think.”
“I’m just really excited for everyone to hear. For the fans of Parokya, maririnig nila ako (they will get to hear me) jamming with you guys. For the fans of Ben&Ben, [this song is a] totally different flavor, so I’m really excited. Gusto kong pasabugin ‘yung mga puso [ng fans] (I want to steal the hearts of fans). It’s a fun collaboration,” he added.
Ben&Ben worked with Munimuni band for the song “Sugat” and with Moira for the song “Pasalubong.” They also worked with Filipino idol group SB19 to record a “band version” of SB19’s song “MAPA” and made headlines for collaborating with K-Pop star Young K of Day6 for a reimagined rendition of their hit single “Leaves.”
