B and P Just Like Home: All Day Breakfast Comfort Food

BnP Chick to Chick (P425) – “Half chicken simmered in herbs and spices, coated in our buttermilk batter then deep fried to perfection. Served with B&P’s homemade french toast and peppered gravy sour cream dip” The chicken’s breading was unlike any other. It looks and feels crunchy and flaky at first, but then it tastes and feels almost like bread after you eat it. (I loved it!) B&P used chicken breast for this dish and oftentimes, the breast is less juicy. However in this case, it was still very juicy and tender. Turns out, the chicken is poached first before it is fried to lock in all the juices. Wow, I never knew it worked that way. On the other hand, I particularly enjoyed the french toast. Chicken and french toast isn’t a usual combination but for B&P’s version, it’s a must. The french toast was very sweet and pairing it up with the salty chicken makes this dish exceedingly good.

B&P’s Chicken matches perfectly well with the french toast in Chick to Chick. Trust me, you have to try it!

Don Malutong (P275) – “Crispy pork belly served with garlic rice, choice of egg and papaya relish” This was one of our favorite meals for the day. When they said it was MALUTONG (crispy), they weren’t kidding! The pork bellies were cut to a small size making it more like a finger food and was extremely crispy. However, unlike other crispy pork bellies, B&P’s version was not oily at all. What makes it even better is the despite how thinly cut it is, you can still taste a bit of meat beneath all that crispiness. This is served with some adobo rice to make it even better.

High School Life (P275)“Boneless chicken thigh fillet and pork belly asado served with boiled soy egg” I’m not sure what specific sauce they used, but to me it tasted like the barbeque sauce used on most ribs. It was good but I recommend you mix it all together with the rice as the sauce might be a little too overpowering. If you’re a fan of those barbeque sauced ribs I mentioned, then you’ll most likely enjoy this too. Same flavor, different meat.

Primera Tapa (P280) – “Premium angus beef tapa served on a bed of garlic rice, scrambled eggs and pickled relish”  When I eat tapa, I usually leave out the pickled relish or achara as I rarely appreciate its sour taste with my already juicy tapa. However in this case, I actually finished every piece of achara. I can’t precisely pinpoint if it was the achara that tasted differently from other restaurants or the beef, but it was one of first times I finished eating my achara with my tapa.

Triple Decker (P220) – “three layers of pancakes filled with Nutella, fresh banana and caramel then topped with whipped cream” You can never go wrong with banana and Nutella. We’ve pretty much tried pairing up the two and even turning it into a sandwich, putting it in between layers of pancakes is a whole different story. We love pancakes as it is with just syrup and butter, so imagine adding banana and Nutella. Yum!

Pancake Supreme (P210) – “Five layers of pancake filled with strawberry, blueberry, banana, orange and mango. Served with whip butter and assorted syrup” Though the Triple Decker was also good, the Pancake Supreme is more up my alley. I enjoy pancakes though I find plain pancakes slightly boring and can never eat more than 2 without drowning it in syrup. The Pancake Supreme however is the complete opposite. All the fruits inserted between those 5 layers makes it burst with flavors! I absolutely loved B&P’s Pancake Supreme, however, I strongly suggest you to share for this one! (Unless you’ve got a really big appetite)

B&P Home: Thirst Quenchers

This article wouldn’t be complete without a little insight on B&P’s drinks menu. As mentioned earlier, this is where I first tried the popping boba and I wasn’t leaving without trying it again. For this morning, we tried the Calamansi juice (P160 bottle), Strawberry Lemon Quench (P110) and the Lemon Celery Pandan (P110)

The Calamansi juice is pretty common but very fresh. Since it comes in a bottle, it’s also one of the recommended drinks for sharing. The Lemon Celery Pandan on the other hand is very unique. The subtle taste of pandan, the tangy taste of lemon and the powerful taste of celery along with some cucumbers doesn’t just make this drink unique, it makes it an ideal detox drink. Perfect to start your healthy day.

B-and-P-all-day-breakfast-08B&P’s Strawberry Lemon Quench with the popping boba!

The Strawberry Lemon Quench was my favorite. The strawberry and lemon mixture was another one of those I never imagined of putting together. The sweet strawberry and sour lemon at play in my mouth was really good. At some point, it felt like I was drinking a glass of strawberry nerds. On top of that, this drink comes with the popping boba! For those who haven’t tried it, it’s like sago with juice inside. So when you bite into it, look out for an explosion of more juices in your mouth!

We were pretty happy with all that we ate. As soon as we asked for the check, the servers handed us not just the bill, but a fortune cookie each! I loved it! We had delicious and comforting food, sat on soft and cozy chairs with a cool view of the kitchen, and we ended our “date” with a fortune cookie. The food, the place and the staff are simply the best!
