Award-winning documentary ‘Aswang’ to stream for free for 1-day only

Alyx Ayn Arumpac’s critically acclaimed documentary Aswang will be streaming for free this weekend. It tells the story of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, covering the first two years of his term.

Aswang‘s synopsis reads:

When Rodrigo Duterte is voted president of the Philippines, he sets in motion a machinery of death to execute suspected drug dealers, users, and small time street criminals. ASWANG follows people whose lives entwine with the growing violence.

You can stream the documentary for free starting from July 11, 6 pm (Saturday) until July 12, 11:59 pm (Sunday). You’ll be able to catch it on Aswang’s official website and Facebook page.

Aswang was initially set for a Philippine premiere last March during the Daang Dokyu Festival. It was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was recognized by the international critics’ FIPRESCI Award at the International Documentary Film Festival in 2019 in Amsterdam.
