Auli’i Cravalho of ‘Moana’ to become Ariel in ‘The Little Mermaid Live’ TV Musical!

Looks like Moana is answering the call of the sea once again—this time, to become one with it as a mermaid!

Auli’i Cravalho, the young voice actress of Moana, is set to take on the role of Ariel in ABC’s live TV musical staging of “The Little Mermaid” (not to be confused with the live-action Disney film starring Halle Bailey).

Alongside Auli’i are Queen Latifah, who will bring life to villain Ursula, and Shaggy (of “It Wasn’t Me!” fame), who will be the voice of Sebastian.

This live musical will feature music from the original animated film and the Tony Award-winning Broadway stage version.

This, of course, comes after Disney announced that it will be producing a live-action remake of the classic. However, executives are confident that the two won’t overshadow one another as their respective releases will be far apart.
