Ate Gay Responds to Vice Ganda’s Joke on Why He Was Removed from ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’

Ate Gay has once again expressed his dismay over his non-inclusion in the Tawag ng Tanghalan Celebrity Champions segment of popular noontime show It’s Showtime. This time, the comedian responded to a comment made by Vice Ganda wherein it was alleged that Ate Gay was removed from the lineup of artists because of his Facebook rants.

Ate Gay Vice Ganda Tawag ng Tanghalan

It was back in mid-October 2019 when Ate Gay, real name Gil Morales, first spoke publicly about the issue on social media. In a series of posts, he said that he was saddened by his exclusion from the show without receiving any explanation despite undergoing photoshoots and band rehearsals.

Nakakalungkot man na ang management ay walang sinabing dahilan kung bakit,” he wrote, sharing behind-the-scenes photos.

Though no explanation was given over the month that has passed, Vice Ganda made a joke referencing the issue on the Tawag ng Tanghalan All-Star Grand Resbak aired last Thursday, November 21.

Speaking to a contestant who looked similar to Ate Gay, Vice asked him: “Totoo ba na masama ang loob mo dahil hindi ka naisalang sa celebrity edition, Ate Gay?”

He also added: “Kasi ang dami mo raw kasing chika sa Facebook.”

Ate Gay immediately took to Facebook to air out his thoughts on Vice Ganda’s comment.

He then went on to defend his posts.

He also said that this will be his last “rant” about the issue.

“Last na ito [about] Showtime. Nagpapasalamat pa rin ako kasi namemention name ko,” he said.
