In line with this, she expressed her gratitude on Instagram. “My heart is full and I am incredibly grateful. Thank you,” she began her lengthy post. The head chef did not forget to credit her team for the success and added, “I am beyond honored to be receiving this award. It is great validation for my team and [me], for all the hard work invested in bettering our craft every single day.”

What the Filipino award-winning chef is most grateful for is the chance to inspire more aspiring chefs. “I am grateful for this platform that allows me to reach out to so many young chefs to hopefully inspire them to overcome barriers and push the boundaries,” Siy continued.

She also grabbed the opportunity to empower women in the industry. “I want to shine the spotlight on the work of remarkable women in our industry, in the hopes that one day we as a community can thrive and reach new heights by leveraging the symbiosis that a truly egalitarian workforce brings,” she concluded her message.

Siy is the second Filipina to take home the award, next to Margarita Forés who also cheered on her, “Biggest Congratulations dearest [Johanne Siy]! Had the hugest feeling it would be you.”

“You make us all so proud! MABUHAY ka, MABUHAY ang Pinay, MABUHAY ang Pilipinas,” she commented.
