Pets and stray animals were among the victims of Super Typhoon Carina. With the continuous call to leave no one behind, animal welfare organizations offered aid to pet owners, including rescued stray dogs and cats.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) distributed relief goods to pet owners and pets in Brgy. Tumana in Marikina City, following the typhoon’s onslaught. They received a pack of dry cat and dog food and a can of wet food.
“Residents of Brgy. Tumana and their pets were among the very first to evacuate to higher ground because flood waters quickly reached 20 feet yesterday,” the post read.
According to PAWS, no pet and stray casualties were recorded except for a stray kitten, whom they buried nearby.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management office even shared snaps of their rescue operations, evacuating pets and strays through rescue boats.
“Weโre all inclusive. Ohanaโฆ nobody gets left behind,” they captioned.
Numerous animal welfare organizations urged pet owners not to leave their beloved fur babies behind when evacuating. PAWS recommended using laundry baskets and basins as makeshift carriers for those who don’t have cages or carriers.
