Animal Crush Videos Soon to be Banned in the Philippines

When in Manila, I’m sure a lot of you were enraged upon learning that there are some Pinoys who are into the business of making animal crush videos for profit. Good thing Buhay party-list Representative Irwin Tieng has now taken matters into action by proposing a bill that when passed, would soon make the selling of animal crush videos (and other similar cruel acts) filmed in the Philippines illegal.

Once the House Bill 4595 gets passed as a law, it will officially ban Filipinos from “selling, marketing, advertising, exchanging or distributing the videos” which show extreme form of animal cruelty, as Rep. Tieng would put it.

“It is hard to believe that this sort of thing even exists, and that a law is needed to prevent it. Animal torture is outrageously disturbing. Common decency and morality dictates that those engaged in it should not be profiting from it; they should be imprisoned,” according to Rep. Tieng.

Animal crush videos for profit usually involves a person paying a certain amount to see another person stepping on/crushing animals to death. In the Philippines, underaged Pinays wearing mini skirts and pointed heels are the most preferred ‘executors’. In some cases, the executor uses other forms of torturing device like inserting pointed objects to the animal’s body. The viewer may also get to choose the animal to crush. These tortured creatures vary from puppies, kittens, mice, bunnies, frogs, and even snakes.

It’s disheartening to know that there are some people willing to pay as much as $1,000 online just to watch people torture and kill animals. Worse, I can’t believe how these viewers relate animal abuse to sexual gratification. It’s just too sick to fathom!

I hope that the House Bill 4595 gets passed as soon as possible. Animal cruelty has to stop once and for all!

I remember back when we had stray cats who tried to fit themselves into our house. I tell you those cats can be quite annoying at times. They’d sneak into our kitchen and sometimes get food or break some dishes. They’d even leave kitty litter all over the garage to our dismay! Still, I didn’t try to lay a finger on them because these creatures deserve to be loved and taken care of too.

And we humans, fortunate to be blessed with intellect and wisdom, should know that better.
