Right before 2023 came to an end, Andrea Brillantes (Blythe) gave a glimpse of what happened during her solo Spain trip. Back in May, the actress and Lucky Beauty Cosmetics CEO only shared snaps from her talked-about vacation. Now, she has finally released a vlog that summarizes how she spent five days all by herself in the European country.

“It’s official, nakapagcommute na ako,” Andrea said in her Spain vlog, where she experienced a lot of firsts. Aside from taking public transportation, she also highlighted taking solo tours, walking in the streets alone at night, and partying and meeting new friends. According to her, these experiences empowered her. “There’s something empowering about walking in the streets alone at night, especially as a woman,” she mentioned.
“I think I can survive anything now that I have partied alone,” she adds. “I was just truly enjoying the simple things and the feeling of being a normal person, even just for a little while.” This also includes holding an umbrella when the rain comes pouring, because, as she explained, crew members held it for her when at work.

Blythe even became emotional about being genuinely happy again after quite a while. “This is the first time in a long time that I’m crying…my first tears of joy,” she cried in one of the clips. We recall that she was going through a breakup at the time with her former boyfriend, Ricci Rivero, who confirmed their split back in June.

Furthermore, she reflected on bonding with the people she met during her trip with whom she shared stories. “Having deep conversations with strangers is fun because you never know their story,” she noted.
“This journey is very special to me and I learned a lot about myself,” she realized. “In the past years kasi, I became too reliant on certain people. While it’s good to have people to rely on, sometimes it can do more harm than good.”

On why she pursued this solo trip away from everyone else, here’s what Blythe said: “One of the main reasons I took this trip was to test myself and prove to not only the people around me but also to myself, that I can handle being alone. I wanted to prove that I could be independent and learn to enjoy my own company. As I enter adulthood and life becomes more serious, I want to become more secure in myself. And to do that, I needed to spend time alone and learn to be alone.”
Before concluding her vlog, she encouraged everyone who is also thinking about taking a solo trip, saying, “If kaya ko, kaya niyo din. It’s really worth it. Don’t be afraid to be alone. At the end of the day, all we have is ourselves.”
