Alleged Phone Thief Accidentally Answers Facetime Call
When you first realize you lose your phone, your instinct is to call your number and trace it. Those first few seconds before it rings is a terrifying experience; if it rings, you breathe a sigh of relief and try to find it by its ringtone. And if it says “Subscriber cannot be reached,” you know it’s in someone else’s hands. But here’s an interesting story. When someone called the Apple ID of a missing phone via Facetime, the alleged thief accidentally answered it, showing his face. Talk about luck: good luck for the owner and bad luck for the guy who answered it. It kind of reminds us of the time a woman took selfies using a stolen phone.
According to Derek A., who posted about the incident on Facebook:
To all my friends within Makati particularly in Pasong Tamo area, please let us know if you recognize this guy. He is in possession of a stolen iPhone owned by my nephew, Aljon G. He accidentally answered a Facetime call using the same Apple ID my nephew is currently using.
It’s a good thing the caller was able to screengrab it, because it’s possible that the person who has the phone hung up as soon as he realized it was a stranger.
We already filed a police report on this matter and we copy furnished the photo to the Makati City Police. Please share and pass so that we can identify this person because the police who is investigating on the matter told us that he is incapable of tracing the guy. He told me that they will only wait for additional information coming from us if we can gather more (i.e. location). Thank you very much and Happy Holidays everyone!
However, it is also possible that the guy who answered the call simply bought the phone from the thief, without knowing it was stolen.
