The fastest-growing sport in the Philippines is entering a new chapter. PYCL (Pickle Yard Conference League) officially launches its Season 2 National Tryouts, giving pickleball players from across the country the opportunity to compete for a place in the country’s premier professional pickleball league.
Following the success of its inaugural season, PYCL continues its mission of building a professional pathway for Filipino pickleball athletes by bringing tryouts closer to local communities nationwide.
This year’s National Tryouts will visit major pickleball hubs across the Philippines, including Cebu, Bohol, Ormoc, Dumaguete, Davao, and Metro Manila, allowing aspiring players to showcase their skills before league officials and coaches.
Successful participants will move on to the league’s Draft Combine before becoming eligible for the official PYCL Season 2 Draft, where professional franchise teams will select athletes to represent them in the upcoming season.
Unlike traditional local tournaments, PYCL offers athletes the opportunity to compete in a structured professional league featuring franchise teams, nationwide media exposure, and live broadcasts on GMA News TV.
“Our goal has always been bigger than organizing tournaments,” said the PYCL organizing committee. “We want to create a complete ecosystem where talented Filipino players have a clear path from local courts to the professional stage.”
Season 2 is expected to feature:
- Eight professional franchise teams
- Forty-eight drafted athletes
- National scouting events
- Weekly competitive matches
- Live television and digital coverage
- Championship playoffs featuring the country’s top pickleball talent
The National Tryouts are open to players who believe they have what it takes to compete at the highest level. Regardless of where they started playing, every athlete now has an opportunity to earn a place among the country’s best.
