Aiko Melendez and Onemig Bondoc began a new chapter with a sweet engagement after a 29-year love story.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Aiko shared the news of their engagement and the story behind it.

“Imagine waiting 29 years for a love story to finally find its way back home,” she wrote. “Today, I am engaged to the man who has somehow been part of my story for almost three decades.”
For the 50-year-old actress, their love story was never a straight line. Life happened, and their paths had to move in opposite directions, yet they still found each other.
“We grew, we learned, we made choices, we faced our own battles, and we became different versions of ourselves. And maybe that was exactly how our story was supposed to unfold,” she shared.
She also noted that neither of them “needed saving” when Onemig came back to her life. From that point forward, their words have finally aligned.
There’s no more pressure, no more approval, and no constant need to prove anything to anyone.
“That is why I know in my heart that I am marrying this man for the right reasons. Not because I have to, not because circumstances tell me to, but because I genuinely, wholeheartedly choose him,” she said.
“Ours began 29 years ago, took a very long detour, and somehow found its way back,” she concluded. “And now, after all these years, I get to marry the one I waited for. The timing may not have been ours. But perhaps it was always God’s.”
Meanwhile, Onemig shared a glimpse of the proposal on his YouTube channel. The engagement took place when they visited the grave of the actress’s late father, Jimi Melendez.
In February 2026, the couple confirmed their relationship. Both clarified that they are annulled from their previous marriages.
