Ai Ai Delas Alas Wins Best Female Actor Award in International Film Fest in New York

Ai Ai delas Alas shows us a different side in the movie Area, and she’s reaping the rewards. Last October, the film won Special Jury Prize at the Eurasian International Film Festival. Now, the film was awarded Best Female Actor for delas Alas, this time at the 7th Queens World Film Festival in New York City.

Delas Alas beat Karin Hanczewsk for Lotte, Amy Redford for Hate Crime, and Dorothea Hagena in Mann Im Spagat – Pace, Cowboy, Pace.

The film’s director, Louie Ignacio, was also nominated for Best Director in the Narrative Feature.

Area stars Ai-Ai delas Alas and Allen Dizon, and tells the story of a prostitute whose life savings are stolen during Holy Week.

The Queens World Film Festival is an annual gathering of “tender films, heartbreaking films, and several works that are extremely provocative, maybe even disturbing.” Each year, the festival showcases films from 45 countries around the world.
