As the premiere date of the local adaptation of well-loved Korean Drama film Miracle in Cell No. 7 draws near, Aga Muhlach has let us in on a little secret: he has been in constant communication with the original Korean star of the movie, Ryu Seung-Ryong.
Aga revealed this during a press conference for the film held last December 6 when he was asked to give a reaction to Ryu commending the local remake on Facebook back in November. “So touched to know that there will be a Philippine remake of Miracle in Cell No. 7,” Ryu had said at the time.
Aga said, “As a matter of fact, we texted each other. Seriously, we’re kind of in constant communication now. As a matter of fact, we’re inviting him for the premiere and he’s just fixing his schedules kasi [because] he’s also busy now.”
He then shared that Ryu was actually looking forward to watching the remake, which is directed by Nuel C. Naval.
“Sinabi niya sa akin na [He told me that] ‘it’s really an honor to be invited to your premiere and I can’t wait to see your movie,'” Aga added. “I even told him, ‘You were an inspiration.’ Kasi yung pelikula niya [Because his film] is not just him or the stars, but yung istorya [the story], father and daughter, hardened criminals, yung nangyari sa preso [what happens behind bars], how it changes people, how it changed everyone. So, tamang-tama [very apt] for the festival. Parang sabi ko [I said] what more can I ask for?”
Aga also confirmed that the Philippine adaptation will be internationally screened in South Korea and that Ryu promised to help promote it.
“Sinabi niya pa na ‘I’m gonna help you promote your film, even in Korea,'” Aga shared.
Are you looking forward to this film?
