What happens when a former band vocalist/front man and a soul siren team up for a concert? There will definitely be a blockbuster repeat.

Music Museum was jam-packed on a Thursday night with a few concert-goers standing up on the balcony due to a full house performance of the legendary Joey G and Nina. I’ve never been to a concert of Side A (Joey G’s former band) or Joey G himself and I never got a chance to watch Nina perform live. I didn’t expect anything on the night of their concert. I just assumed that they will sing OPM songs since they are known great OPM artists.

They opened their show with a bang. Singing classic hit songs to modern songs, they definitely wowed everyone with their versatility. Joey and Nina have an undeniable musical chemistry. They got their own time to shine, but they shine best when together which is quite unexpected because of their generation gap. They sang hit songs from great artists Sergio Mendes, Vanessa Williams, and Patti Austin.

For Nina’s part of the show, I loved her powerful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s Natural Woman.

Joey G, of course, impressed the crowd with the hit song I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing originally performed by Aerosmith and he made the crowd dance with Side A’s song Tuloy Pa Rin Ako. They complemented well with their Musical Director Mr. James Sace making their renditions powerful and unique.

What wowed me was when Joey G sang millennials hits with Nina! It was awesome to see a legendary vocalist sing songs by Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, and Hailee Steinfeld. Their rendition of Bruno Mars’ Chunky, Cake By The Ocean of DNCE, Starving of Hailee Steinfeld and Grey and, Don’t Wanna Know by Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar definitely got their audience of all ages partying all night long.

The highlight of the night was when Joey sang Nina’s song Someday and Nina sang Side A’s hit song Set You Free. They definitely nailed each other’s covers. The crowd’s favorite part though was when Joey G sang the classic song Forevermore.

It was definitely a night of music and dancing. Nina and Joey didn’t fail in making an ordinary Thursday night special. We won’t even be surprised if there will be another repeat so do watch out for it!
