When planning a home renovation, homeowners often look to designers, architects, and online sources for inspiration. But bringing that vision to life takes intentional planning—from the overall layout to the interior elements that shape how a family experiences the space every day.

Carrier, the authority in air solutions, turned inspiration into a tangible experience with its three-day pop-up, the Carrier Home Design Studio, at Uptown Mall, BGC. The event invited homeowners and designers to reimagine modern living and cooling through the brand’s flagship floor-standing unit, the Carrier Slim.
“Times have changed, and people now beautify their houses. They want their appliances to match. The 4HP unit was introduced about a year and a half ago. Today, listening to consumers, they said, ‘I’d like to put it in my condominium or a smaller part of my house. Does it come in different capacities?’ Hence, we launched the 2.5HP and 3HP models,” shared Philip Trapaga, president of Carrier Concepcion Airconditioning Company (CCAC).

“That is our commitment to the Filipino community, who need efficiency, technical expertise, and durability. Carrier is here for you,” Trapaga added.
At the launch, Metro Home TV host and senior partner at ADesign Anton Barretto, alongside interior stylist Marilen Montenegro, joined a fireside chat. They shared their perspectives on current home design trends, strategies for introducing comfort without compromising aesthetics, and why air conditioning should be integrated early into the design process.
“Home design is becoming more about creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but also intentional and responsive to how families actually live. We’re seeing many homeowners today wanting to incorporate dedicated spaces for wellness into their homes,” said Montenegro.

Barretto echoed this sentiment, noting that more homeowners are gravitating toward open layouts.
“Homeowners prefer open-plan layouts with provisions to close them off so spaces remain flexible. They can transform into separate areas or open up into one big space as needed, depending on the day’s activities,” said Barretto.
With these evolving needs, both experts emphasized the importance of considering every element of a space early on—especially climate control.
“For me, it needs to be considered as early as planning the walls of your house,” Barretto added. “Because when you think of the aircon and where you’ll place it, it naturally follows that you plan for piping, compressors, and electrical layout.”

“You have to think about details like ceiling height and square footage, and from there, determine how much horsepower is needed,” Montenegro advised, highlighting the need to match cooling capacity to a room’s physical characteristics and intended use.
Designed to fit the way modern families live
At the pop-up, guests explored how the Carrier Slim complements different environments through two interactive room setups furnished by contemporary lifestyle brand Fashion Interiors. These spaces demonstrated how modern comfort can integrate seamlessly into a home, while an accompanying gallery offered visitors a closer look at the unit’s design-forward features.
Each room showcased how the Carrier Slim’s slim vertical footprint optimizes floor space and keeps walls clear without disrupting a clean, contemporary aesthetic. The setups also highlighted its quiet, powerful, and even cooling—distributed via 3D Airflow—alongside its Breeze Away feature, which prevents direct cold drafts.

While climate control is essential, long-term efficiency is equally critical for homeowners. The Carrier Slim delivers on both fronts, boasting a 5-star energy rating to help keep electricity costs manageable.
Previously available only in a 4HP model, the Carrier Slim line now includes 2.5HP and 3HP capacities, offering tailored solutions for spaces of varying sizes.
Through the Carrier Home Design Studio, Carrier demonstrated how comfort and thoughtful design can seamlessly coexist to create homes that feel as good as they look.
