From intimate brunches to late-night escapades, these showcases of queer artistry have become a cornerstone of entertainment, social movements, and “herstory” that’ve helped empower audiences every year—not just in June. That’s why queer Filipinos from all walks of life have also turned drag shows into a melting pot of culture that they can call home.

With all these options at your disposal, it won’t be long before you find a crowd who’ll welcome you with open arms. Whether you share common interests or adore the same queens, these connections are for keeps. It’s best to cherish them and put yourself out there as much as possible, rather than waiting around for a “next time.”

Every performance, gig, and production we come across is paramount to the LGBTQIA+ community’s fight for equality and a future that nurtures their dreams. Even the smiles and laughter that queens bring to crowds are acts of resistance that we have every right to join.
Meeting your favorite drag artists is a blessing that comes once in a lifetime. You’ll never know when you’ll see them in person again, so you ought to prepare your messages and gestures of admiration before the big night comes around. But it’s also worth understanding why they hone their craft in the first place—for a greater cause that aligns with their fully realized selves and what they stand for.

Attending drag shows also means supporting the local queens who tirelessly keep the platform alive. From regional queens to emerging entertainers in the metro, they’re all part of “herstory” in the making, and it’s up to us to help bring their dreams to fruition. Gestures as simple as sending them tips, sharing their upcoming events, and showing up when you can already go a long way. And once they finally get their big break, you can proudly share that you’ve rooted for them since day one.
