Carla Abellana revealed that her divorce from her ex-husband, Tom Rodriguez, has been recognized by the Philippine court. In an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” she confirmed the news when asked about the status of her relationship with Tom.
“We are divorced. Recognized na po yan ng korte, ng local court po natin dito [That has been recognized by our local court here],” she stressed.

In 2022, Tom, who’s an American citizen, went to the United States after confirming their split and then obtained a divorce decree there. Foreign divorce must be approved by the Philippine court in order to be recognized in the country.
Carla emphasized that she and Tom hadn’t talked since their separation.
“We haven’t spoken since. Hindi pa po kami nagkikita or nag-uusap [We haven’t seen each other or talked to each other],” she said. “Wala po akong updates or anything [I don’t have any updates or anything]. We don’t communicate anymore.”
She then noted that she had completely let go of her anger. However, she admitted that she prefers not to talk to Tom or even engage in small talk when they cross paths.
The actress also reiterated that finding new love is not her priority at the moment, “At this point po, it’s one thing na hindi ko masyadong iniisip [it’s one thing that I don’t think about too much], especially with the amount of work that we have.”
Carla and Tom tied the knot in October 2021, then broke up less than a year after their marriage. In January, the latter returned to the Philippines and revealed that he’s currently seeing someone.
