Here’s the State of the UAAP Season 82 This Year Amid the Extended Quarantine

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines, Inc. (UAAP) has officially released a statement regarding the state of its annual sporting event that has been put on hold since the lockdown.

As of Tuesday, April 7, the remainder of the UAAP Season 82 is now scrapped.

“With the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) having been extended, the conditions for the resumption of UAAP Season 82 can no longer be met. As such it is now deemed cancelled,” the memo reads.

“All other issues related thereto will be resolved at the proper time as we continue to focus our time, energy, and resources in battling this crisis. Nevertheless, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our fans, partners, student-athletes, coaches, and all other members of the UAAP community.”

President Duterte likewise announced on Tuesday the extension of the enhanced community quarantine over Luzon until April 30, 2020, amid the continuing rise of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country.
