Before anyone starts throwing their (imaginary) lightsaber at me, I promise you that their will be no spoilers in this article, so step away from the Dark Side and stay with me, okay?

Still there? Awesome! Now, the experience was just thrilling! My Star Wars t-shirt was prepared weeks ago and being there in the cinema, hearing that spine-tingling theme by John Williams and seeing the Millennium Falcon again made me a bit teary-eyed to be honest. But enough about that! I now give you some SPOILER-FREE reasons why you should head out to the nearest cinema right now and watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

5 (Spoiler-Free) Reasons Why You Should Watch “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

5. The ‘Star Wars’ magic is definitely back!

The moment it was announced that Star Wars VII was coming, I knew that I had to re-watch all the movies. That Lucasfilm logo just does it for me! I was four years old when the ‘prequel’ movies were made and I didn’t appreciate it that much (it didn’t help that Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker was easy on the eyes) until my dad made us watch the original trilogy that made my heart squeal with glee. Episode VII is easy to love and will send you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, enough to finally make us move on from Episodes I-III.

4. J.J. Abrams gave ‘The Force Awakens’ a refreshing yet nostalgic vibe.

To be honest, I got nervous when I found out that Abrams was directing and co-writing Star Wars VII. I know that there are still a lot of Trekkies who are mad about what he did with the Star Trek movies (2009 and 2013) and I was afraid that he would butcher Star Wars, as well. However, along with Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi co-writer Lawrence Kasdan, the movie became something that could have this generation’s younglings asking for more and the hardcore fans to be, well, even more hardcore (yes, it is possible).

3.  Was it perfect? No. Did it matter? Not really.

Just like any other movie, there will be some things that will make you ask ‘what?’ after watching, but for ‘The Force Awakens’ it’s forgivable. Trust me when I say that the flaws in this movie won’t make you want to stab yourself with a lightsaber the way the prequel movies did. Jar Jar flashed into your head just now, didn’t he? Well, none of that, I swear.

2. The cast (old and new) was simply amazing.

Avid fans have already fallen in love with the characters from the original trilogy, so the pressure was really on for the newbies on the block. But everything fell into place just right. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, oozed of girl power and charm; John Boyega, who plays Finn, is an introspective character who helps shed new light to one aspect of the Star Wars universe that was not given much attention before. Then there’s Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver, who is an angsty, hamartia-driven character that will make you love to hate him. All in all, the main and supporting characters made the movie experience very compelling and memorable.

1. It’s the perfect way to end 2015.

From the announcement of this new movie to the teaser trailers up until the moment the cinema doors opened,  this proved to be one of the best Christmas gifts Star Wars fans and movie buffs in general received this 2015 and all I can say is that it was truly worth the wait.
