Leonardo DiCaprio has easily become one of the most formidable actors of his generation, with or without an Oscar.
But as the Best Actor in this year’s Academy Awards, we take a look back at the great films he has done… and the other great films he could have been a part of.
5. The Matrix
Leonardo also apparently turned down the role of Neo, because of the heavy amount of visual effects the film required, and didn’t sit well with him.
4. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Leo was offered the part of Anakin by George Lucas himself, but said that he didn’t feel ready to take that dive at that point. The role went to Hayden Christensen.
3. Spiderman
Instead of Tobey suiting up in the famous webbed red suit, we could have seen Leo instead. It seems that Leo has something against playing superhero characters, as he once again said he wasn’t ready for it.
2. Jobs
Jordan Belfort is not the only filthy rich tycoon he was supposed to play — he was also offered the role of Steve Jobs in the much-anticipated biopic of the Apple founder. Ashton Kutcher got the part instead.
1. Inglorious Basterds
Perhaps one of those really good “could-have-beens”, Leo turned down the role of Colonel Landa, which won Christoph Waltz Best Supporting Actor in the Oscars.
