Instagram is the app for all kinds of photo inspirations, like outfits of the day, makeup looks, lifestyle trends, fancy interiors, and the diet-destroying food photos. Itโs so easy to stalk, double-tap, and scroll for hours on end with all that unlimited content!
Sometimes, people get inspired by the same thing and so they post very similar photos which then start a trend leading to more people following suit. Iโve noticed some of these trends on Instagram that seem to be what some teens consider cool and Iโve made a list of four of what I think are the most hilarious of them.
Iโve searched high and low (not reallyโฆ ย I was just looking at one direction – my phone screen) to show exactly what Iโm talking about. Hipsters in this article refer to people who follow the latest trends on mainstream media. It is not at all a negative thing as some people might make it seem to be.

4 Trends that 2015 Pinoy Hipsters Post on Instagram
ย
4. The Face Palm
I’m not sure what to call this trend, but teens seem to place their hands over their faces to cover them, so I just went with โFace Palmโ. There are a few variations to this. They can be (1) standing straight, (2) pointing their other hand to the camera, or (3) in a squatting or sitting position.
As with most trends, we don’t know who made it the it thing. It looks cool sometimes, but sometimes I just go โwoah, a squad of face palmersโ. Is it a zit theyโre covering? Or maybe they just want to add mystery to the shot? Whatever the reason, the hand-to-cover-the-face pose is automatically struck by the 2015 hipster.

3. The Fake Laugh
Wow, it’s amazing that the shot perfectly captured the moment when everyone was laughing without knowledge that they were being taken a photo of. (read: sarcasm) Itโs so candid… not! We know your secret. You timed that shutter at exactly the time you were about to laugh… and held that pose for a few seconds without letting out a genuine laugh afterwards (so it wonโt appear blurry on cam, of course). Admit it!
Iโm guilty of taking these kinds of shots and am even the one to yell โcandidโ before someone takes the photo so everyone can pose โcandidlyโ. #NotAshamed Itโs even funnier when people take โcandidโ photos of themselves.

ย
2. The Exaggerated Shoe Shot
The exaggerated shoe shot is also one of the most trending hipster shots around. Hipsters contort/bend their legs in the most unnatural ways to get the perfect shoe selfie. See some examples below and just imagine how they look in real life and the struggle they go through to take the shot. Itโs a flexibility stretch and IG post in one!
ย
ย
1. The Push Cart
This last trend is the funniest! I find it hilarious for a grown person to force himself inside a cart and play the role of a carton of milk or a box of cereal for a while for the sake of Instagram.
Iโm pretty sure they laughed at themselves because they thought it weird, too (but at the same time, it’s so fun)! They literally want to be checked out. Iโm forecasting a new trend next year: hipsters in grocery baskets! Push niyo yan! Letโs make it happen!

We live in the I-generation (some call it that) and I guess people find ways to take photos of themselves in a more creative manner than the usual smiling portrait. Regardless of the kinds of photos we post, since we use Instagram because itโs โin”, arenโt we all also considered hipsters, though?
These are only four of thousands of trending Instagram photos that are likely to die down as fast as they have sprouted up. Another worldwide trend right now is the Granny Hair. Read about it here: Granny Hair is a Thing on Instagram
