3 Must-See Places When in Perth

The 3 Places You Have to Visit When In Perth

Perth has a unique transport system. It is nothing like what we’re used to in the Philippines. The best way to understand this is to look at your own hand and how it all connects in the middle. The transport system in Perth is somewhat like that. You always have to go to the center in order to reach your destination.

The only exception to this rule is if you have your own transport; but if you don’t, then that’s the main thing you have to deal with. So, if you’re anything like me and you’re just looking for a quick escape from the buzz the of the metro, here are the 3 places I highly recommend that you check out when you happen to drop by Perth.

3 Must-See Places When in Perth

3. King’s Park

The 3 Places You Have to Visit When In Perth

King’s Park is literally the most accessible place among the three suggestions I’m about to give you. It is 15 to 20 minutes away from the city and it showcases a stunning and spectacular view. On top of that, you can spend your whole day going around this park and you still won’t be able to say that you have seen the entirety of it. It is gigantic.

If you’re looking for a nature escape that is more-or-less a walking distance from the CBD, King’s Park is the place to go to. There are restaurants in the area, too, so you don’t really have to go back to the city to fill your stomach. Most of all, it’s the best spot to see the sunrise. Did I mention that they have a wishing well? I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for those things.

2. Cottesloe Beach

The 3 Places You Have to Visit When In Perth

This place stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on it. Unless you have an inexplicable disdain for the sun, sand, and the beach; you will surely feel the same way once you’ve set foot in Cottesloe. It is about 30 to 40 minutes away from the CBD, depending on where you’re coming from. There is quite a walk from the train station that you would have to do; but once you feel its powdery sand on your feet, it won’t matter anymore. The water is so clear that you can almost see underneath it. With goggles, you can see more than three different types of fishes underwater. There are scattered coral formations around the beach, as well.

You can also find sculptures in the area in case you want to feed the artist in you. Honestly, there are endless ways you can spend your day in Cottesloe and no words can justify how beautiful it is. So, if you’re hoping for a trip to the beach when in Perth, then Cottesloe is the first place you need to check out because I am honestly gonna run out of adjectives if you make me try to describe it.

1. Fremantle

The 3 Places You Have to Visit When In Perth

Last but not least (excuse the cliche, but this is not without purpose), we have Fremantle. Fremantle, more commonly known as Freo, is about 45 to 50 minutes away from the city; but its culture, spectacular view and noteworthy architecture definitely makes up for the travel time. It is like a castle wherein you can find amazing little treasures everywhere you go. From a prison tour to a skate park – name it and Fremantle will give you something better.

I personally always go back to this book shop which fronts “blind dates with books”. The idea is that you buy a book without knowing what the book is about. You just have to depend on the three words used to describe it. It’s pretty amazing, in my opinion, because it’s like giving yourself a gift, but still having that element of surprise.

On another note, you can also spend your time walking around the area and take in its intricately designed architecture while enjoying a performance or two along the way courtesy of Fremantle’s street performers. To top it off, you can end your day by the beach as you watch the sunset and witness the place transform in front of your very eyes. The thing about Fremantle is that it is never the same. It’s like a wonderland. There’s always something to new every time. Have I mentioned that it boasts an enormous Ferris wheel perfect for overlooking the city? If that doesn’t make you want to just up and go now, I don’t know what will.
