With the continuous threat of COVID-19, many beauty queens (current and former) have taken different initiatives to help fight the virus. Some use their platforms for awareness, some help in raising funds, and some even fight on the frontlines. Here are 18 beauty queens who are helping the fight against COVID-19.
18. Kim Duyen
Runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam 2019, this beauty queen distributed rice and noodles to the elderly, poor, and disabled of Ho Chi Minh City. She also donated a large number of face masks to the Children’s Hospital in Can Tho.
17. Emma Tiglao
In a relief mission called Care for Every Juan, reigning Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Emma Mary Tiglao is able to provide relief goods to those who need it. The mission reaches out to families in Pampanga who are affected by the quarantine.
15. Cyrille Payumo
Miss Tourism International 2019 is also one of the beauty queens helping in the Care for Every Juan initiative. She helps in the packing of relief goods to distribute to Kapampangan families. The initiative has reached over 100 families in Angeles City.
14. Zozibini Tunzi
As the reigning Miss Universe during the COVID-19 pandemic, Zozibini Tunzi has used her platform to spread awareness about what is happening around the world. She promoted social distancing while quarantined and sets up live chats to talk to other beauty queens on how to help others during the pandemic.
13. H’Hen Nie
Miss Universe Vietnam 2018 H’Hen Nie donated over VND100 million (around PHP220,000) to COVID-19 efforts. She’s helped fund a drive launched by Vietnam’s Dantri newspaper in a fight against the virus.
12. Michele Gumabao
Through her fundraising drive, Your 200 Pesos, Miss Globe Philippines 2018 was able to donate food packs to people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the former volleyball star, they were able to distribute more than 200 food relief eco packs in San Fernando, Pampanga with funds raised from the drive.
11. Panprapa Yongtrakul
This doctor was crowned Miss Thailand back in 2008. Now, her new task is to help citizens by updating the public about the COVID-19 pandemic every weekend. She is now the assistant spokeswoman of the Thailand government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration.
10. Samantha Bernardo
Samantha Bernardo from Palawan helps in the fight against COVID-19 by promoting the contact tracing app, StaySafe. The app is approved by Malacañang, National Task Force, Inter-agency Task Force COVID-19, Department of Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Health.
9. Maxine Monasterio-Mejia
Hailing from Cagayan de Oro, Miss Teen Philippines 2007 Maxine Monasterio-Mejia has also joined the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19. She is currently a Resident Doctor at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).
8. Shamcey Supsup
Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner up Shamcey Supsup donated 100,000 meals to frontliners fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. With the help of her friends, she was able to feed those frontliners, skeletal workers, and stranded Filipinos.
7. Luong Thuy Linh
Miss World Vietnam 2019, Luong Thuy Linh helped deliver supplies like medical face masks, hand sanitizers, and other essential goods to border guards in the northern province of Cao Bang, Vietnam. This will help the soldiers in their fight against COVID-19.
6. KC Halili
Miss Manila 2014 KC Halili is another former beauty queen helping the fight against the pandemic. KC is currently a medical director of healthcare holdings company DNA Holdings. As such, she helps test patients and builds hospitals and laboratories.
5. Fono McFarland-Seumanu
Reigning Miss Samoa Fono McFarland-Seumanu has previously helped doctors by volunteering to give vaccinations when her country faced a measles outbreak. Now, she’s helping Samoa’s Ministry of Health in its fight against COVID-19 by promoting staying at home and social distancing on her social media.
4. Bhasha Mukherjee
Miss England 2019 Bhasha Mukherjee gained a lot of media attention when she decided to give up her crown to help her country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. She took a break from her charity work overseas to continue working as a doctor.
3. Megan Young
Miss World Philippines 2013 Megan Young has helped provide frontliners with meals through the help of the Aetas of Pastolan Village. The Aetas donated fruits and vegetables that were used for the frontliners’ meals. Together with husband Mikael Diaz, the former beauty queen also created face masks to distribute to frontliners.
2. Catriona Gray
Through the help of the organization Young Focus Philippines, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray was able to help feed 1,000 families in Tondo. The beauty queen helped raise over P2 million to provide meals for families in the Smokey Mountain Area.

Pia Wurtzbach
2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach has been constantly vocal in helping COVID-19 efforts. She started a fundraising effort to provide frontliners with face masks. So far, the former beauty queen has donated to 30 hospitals in Manila. Aside from this, she’s also been actively encouraging people to create DIY face masks for frontliners.
