Get Lucky at Lucky’s Burger and Bar (Try their Crispy Bacon and Egg, Best Baconsilog Ever!
When in Manila, our latest foodie adventure has got us trekking to the mini urban district of McKinley Hill at Bonifacio Global City to check out some must-try eats along Tuscany’s Private Estates. What we’ve discovered are some mouth-watering renditions of your all-time favorites, made new with a playful take on them and a surprisingly great price to match! We begin our foodie adventure with…
Lucky’s Burger and Bar
Formerly known at “The Burgery,” Lucky’s went through a major rebranding and menu overhaul to break free of the “burger joint” mold, so as not to limit their menu to burgers and to be able to offer a wider range of dishes. Their menu boasts of savory, Western comfort food favorites, tailor-made for the local palate and as organic as possible.
Lucky Burger (PHP 298.00) – Double beef patty, double bacon served with sliced cheddar cheese on a bed of mixed lettuce leaves, red onion and tomato slices.
Creamy Mushroom Truffle Pasta (PHP 218.00) – Linguine pata, shiitake, truffle oil, parmigiano reggiano.
We loved their juicy Lucky Burger, which is sparingly seasoned (just pepper) so that its meaty flavor shines through, while fat bacon strips and molten cheddar cheese add that much-needed salty zing to it. This is served with a side of thick-cut frieds and Lucky’s organic tomato ketchup. Their house ketchup was tangy and juicy, just like biting into fresh tomatoes! Ate Mae’s favorite was their Creamy Mushroom Truffle Pasta; lightly doused in truffle oil for that subtle truffle-y flavor that isn’t at all overpowering, matched with fresh shiitake mushrooms and creamy sauce.
Lucky’s Crispy Bacon and Egg (PHP 183.00 0nly!) – Home-made crispy smoked bacon, sous vide egg, fried rice.
Look at that egg! #runnyeggporn
It has been unanimously decided though, that our most favorite dish would have to be Lucky’s Crispy Bacon and Egg! Imagine a tower of crisp lean meat bacon strips next to a steaming bowl of fried rice topped with sous vide egg (which has been thoroughly cooked for 1 hour… all that effort for a perfectly runny egg) – absolute food porn by just describing it! We clearly love this dish because: a.) it’s bacon b.) it’s a fun take on your favorite baconsilog c.) it’s bacon… with rice. If bacon isn’t enough reason to have you try this dish, then I don’t know what is!
Lucky Chops (PHP 328.00) – Sous vide pork chop, walnut mustard butter, french beans, marble potatoes and carrots
And the best part about Lucky’s Burger & Bar is that most of their dishes are easy on the pocket! Their Lucky Chops (one of their best-sellers) offers two fat slabs of tender pork chops topped with piquant mustard butter and served with a side of veggies, already good for two at only PHP 328! I know looking for affordable eats at the posh Fort-McKinley area can be quite a challenge, so this restaurants like these are a godsend for yuppies with a tight budget on the lookout for quality great-tasting meals. Even better? They offer 50% off on cocktails and buy-1-take-1 on local beers during their daily happy hour promo!
It was a great first stop to our Tuscany foodie tour at McKinley Hill, we’ll definitely be putting Lucky’s Burger & Bar on our list of bacon destinations/quality affordable eats. Watch this space for our next foodie venture, when in Manila!
