4 Restos for Your All-Day Breakfast Fix: Metro Manila Edition

Breakfast. The most important meal of the day.

We start our days with breakfast. But do you crave some good ol’ pancakes, bacon, or if you’re like me and rice is life, some hearty tapsilog at 2 in the afternoon or 8 in the evening? Do you just get that sudden craving for bacon or french toast in the middle of the day? Does champorado sound appetizing during merienda time? Then, my friend, join me in experiencing these various all-day breakfast restaurants around the Metro.

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast

1st Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig

If you’re on a tight budget then Kanto Freestyle Breakfast is for you. Don’t get discouraged by their al fresco set up because you will surely miss out on their scrumptious dishes. Their New Zealand Tapa is so tender and flavorful. If you like your tapa saucy, this one is for you. It has the right amount of sweetness and saltiness; plus paired with vinegar, it’s just a plate of pure goodness. Another dish I tried is their Vigan Longganisa. It is garlic heaven. And did I mention that they are open 24/7? Yup your late night breakfast cravings will surely be satisfied.

Early Bird Breakfast Club 

G/F Fort Pointe 2 Bldg, The Fort Complex, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig

If cute is what you want then Early Bird Breakfast Club should be right up your alley. The interior is decorated with cute lights and wallpaper. The whole vibe of the place is very cozy. Their menu consists of a wide selection of breakfast items. They have savory and sweet dishes. I opted for a nice balance of the two.  Their French Toast with Bacon and Eggs is perfect if you like that balance of something sweet and something savory. The French Toast is nicely caramelized and has a lovely cinnamon flavor. Their Early Bird Signature Pancake is nice and fluffy. It is served with a fruit infused butter which is a very nice and yummy touch to a simple dish. Their pancakes are not too sweet which is great if you like smothering your pancakes with maple syrup. At Early Bird Breakfast Club, you also have the option of dousing your pancakes in chocolate syrup. Who doesn’t like the sound of that.

Locavore

Forbes Town Center, Burgos Circle, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig

For those cold mornings, Locavore has your back. Their Duck Lugaw and Champorado are what cozy mornings are made of. The Duck Lugaw is an explosion of different flavors and textures. You have the savory lugaw base, the melt-in-your-mouth foie gras, the crispy floss then paired with your traditional patis and calamansi. It’s just the perfect way to start or end your day. Their Champorado ni Speedy brings me back to my childhood. Remember those rainy mornings when classes are suspended and you are greeted with a warm bowl of champorado? That’s what I felt when I took my first spoonful. You even have a choice of putting evaporated milk or condensed milk. I’m an evap kind of gal.

Single Origin

For all you coffee lovers out there this next one is for you. Single Origin is a haven for coffee drinkers. They have an array of coffee-based drinks. From hot drinks to cold drinks. You can even choose the method of making your coffee. You can also choose your own coffee beans. If coffee is not your thing they also have a good assortment of teas. Plus they also have good food. A favorite of mine is their SO French Toast. It has blueberries and whipped cream—so soft and oh so buttery!
