Former Ako Bicol representative Zaldy Co has reportedly been arrested, according to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
In a Facebook post, Marcos said that Co is currently detained in Prague and under the custody of Czech authorities.
“Nahuli na si Zaldy Co,” the president wrote. He added that Co was apprehended after allegedly crossing into the Czech Republic without proper documentation.
The Philippine government, Marcos said, is now coordinating with Czech officials to ensure that legal procedures are followed and to arrange Co’s return to the Philippines as soon as possible.
“We are in close coordination with the Czech government to ensure that all legal processes are followed and to arrange for his return to the Philippines at the soonest possible time,” he shared.
The president also noted that the public will be updated as developments unfold.
Co has been identified as a central figure in the 2025 flood control scandal, which involves billions of pesos allegedly lost to corruption.
Earlier reports had placed Co in Portugal. In March 2026, Marcos said that the government was already working with Portuguese authorities to facilitate Co’s possible return, while noting that the process would require coordination with the country where he was located.
At the time, he also mentioned that a Red Notice had been requested through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to help locate Co.
Further updates are expected as coordination between Philippine and Czech authorities continues.
