Heads up, revenge travelers! Traveling abroad just became a lot easier thanks to GCash!
GCash just launched its partnership with Alipay+, one of the biggest digital payment platforms in Asia, that now enables cross-border payments for every GCash user. With this partnership, you can easily use your GCash app for transactions with over 1 million merchants across Asia.
That’s right! If you love the convenience of paying with GCash here in the Philippines, then you’ll surely enjoy being able to scan to pay when you travel to South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.
GCash’s Head of Usage Marketing, Milky Gallegos, shares that, “GCash wants to be where the Filipinos are,” which is why they’ve established this partnership with Alipay+, allowing Filipinos the same convenience of paying cashless even in other countries.
We personally got to try using GCash in Singapore, and it’s truly a game-changer!
What’s great about having GCash accessible in other countries is that there are no service fees! Sure, you can go cashless with your credit card abroad, but then there are the massive fees that will surprise you when your bill comes.
With this, there’s also no need to exchange so much cash when you arrive at your destination. It’s also much safer to travel when you don’t have that much cash to carry.
GCash also features real-time forex charging, and you’ll see your payments in Philippine Peso no matter where you are! So, it’s easier to budget your travel funds and there’s no need to convert because GCash does it for you.
That was probably one of the features I loved about the new cross-border payments of GCash. I can easily see how much money I actually spent on something without having to bring out my calculator to convert currencies.
Plus, you can also get vouchers and great deals when paying via GCash. We even got to enjoy up to SGD 8 off on a purchase!
GCash in partnership with Alipay+ has already been launched in many stores all over South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia—most of them in the go-to spots of each country. You can use GCash to eat in some of the best restaurants, shop in the biggest stores, and even pay for your cab ride.
PS. If you’re traveling via Changi Airport, GCash is already accepted as a mode of payment for many duty-free stores in Terminal 1 such as Shilla Duty-Free, Lotte Duty-Free, DFS Duty-Free, and even in 7-Eleven outlets inside the airport.
With this exciting new development, GCash has made it even more exciting and more convenient to travel to your favorite destinations!
