Sometimes, the hardest part of planning a trip isn’t choosing where to go—it’s figuring out what to do with your furry friend while you’re away. Good news for pet parents: Philippine Airlines has just made travel a little easier (and more adorable) with its new FurPAL program, which allows small dogs to fly with their owners in the cabin on select domestic routes.

According to PAL’s official announcement, FurPAL is now available for flights to and from Tagbilaran, Caticlan, and Siargao. The base fare starts at ₱2,500 one way, and the program is currently limited to small dogs only—no cats or other animals yet.
“Only small dogs are accepted, regardless of breed. Dogs must be at least 12 weeks old, fully weaned, and able to stand, turn, and lie down comfortably inside their carrier,” PAL stated. “Only small dogs weighing 10 kilograms (22 pounds) or less—including the carrier—are allowed.”
Each passenger can bring one small dog, with a maximum of three pets allowed on larger aircraft (A321 CEO and A320) and two on Q400 planes.
For everyone’s comfort and safety, dogs must stay in a soft-sided, fully enclosed, leakproof carrier that fits under the seat in front of you. The carrier must measure no more than 17 inches x 11 inches x 9.5 inches and should have ventilation panels and a secure closure.
PAL also clarified that buying an extra seat for your pet isn’t allowed, and in case another passenger is allergic to pets, the number of animals on board is limited, with all FurPAL seats placed by the window to reduce exposure.
To include your dog in your booking, head to PAL’s Travel Boost page and select “FurPAL.” You’ll need to complete a few requirements before check-in, including:
-
FurPAL declaration, release, and waiver form
-
Veterinary health certificate
-
Anti-rabies vaccination certificate
-
Shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry
You can find the waiver form and more details on PAL’s official website.
Before this program, only service dogs were allowed inside the cabin. With FurPAL, Philippine Airlines is opening the skies to more pet-loving travelers, making those island getaways a little less lonely and a lot more paw-some.
