You Can Now Bring the Taste of Ilocos Home With These Gourmet Dishes from Deli Avenue

One of the best things about Ilocos is its food. From bagnet to empanada, the array of Ilocano food will surely bring comfort to any Filipino heart. However, with the quarantine, many people who are craving Ilocano food might think their chance at the cuisine is temporarily lost without being able to travel to Ilocos. But that’s not true! You can have Ilocano food even when stuck at home. With Deli Avenue, you’re sure to have your Ilocano food cravings satisfied!

According to one of the owners, Reese Fariñas, Deli Avenue started its humble beginnings in 1986, selling snacks at the family-owned business, the Fariñas Trans bus terminal, in Sampaloc, Manila. A decade and a half later, they decided to relocate the business to introduce the traditional Ilocano flavors in the metro.

Now, as the new normal has arrived, the business has shifted to the store you know now as Deli Avenue—an international, Ilocano, and local gourmet food delivery service that caters the metro. Deli Avenue offers Ilocano food, made with high-quality ingredients sourced from the Ilocos region. They also offer international gourmet meals that are home-cooked and delivered to homes across Metro Manila.

I was able to try some of Deli Avenue’s food and, indeed, it felt like I was back in the streets of Ilocos. They had bagnet dishes like Bagnet Kare-Kare, Binagoongang Bagnet, and Pinakbet with Bagnet. These dishes are great if you love bagnet and looking for some fun variations of the popular Ilocos special.

My personal favorite out of everything I got to taste was their longganisa. Deli Avenue makes their Laoag Longganisa and Bagas ti Longganisa (Hubad na Longganisa) with ingredients from Ilocos. What’s best about this is that they’re made with less fat and premium meat, with no preservatives and no MSG!

Aside from Ilocano and other local dishes, Deli Avenue also serves international dishes. Their U.S. Roast Beef with Marble Potatoes is delicious!
