Professional footballer Yi-Young Park of Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo issued a warning to all his followers to be more vigilant and careful when walking around Bonifacio Global City after he experienced getting pickpocketed.
“Long story short, it happened in front of One Bonifacio, I was walking on the street and 6 people were around me for [quite a] long time. 3 of them [started] to walk slowly in front of me and the rest were hunting my bag which was closed,” Yi-Young wrote in the caption of his social media posts. “They stole my wallet but I was lucky that I could [notice] fast and track them immediately. Ran after them but they split to 3. I was only able to catch 2 of them and luckily they had my walletโฆ”
Yi-Young said that he tried asking for help from the guards around but that they “didn’t react.” He also shared that although he got his wallet back from the pickpockets, it was already missing cash.
“While I was tracking them I asked for help to the guards around but they didnโt react and couldnโt help me out.. anyway.. Iโm safe and I got my wallet back but still missing some cash. Is it good or bad? Just wanted to warn you guys out there to avoid next victim that it wonโt happen again!” he wrote.
He included a video he took of the alleged pickpocketers demanding them to explain why they tried to steal from him.
“I will give you to [the] embassy,” one of the perpetrators said.
“It’s not me [but] my friend [who did it],” the other added.
They then sprinted away at the end of the video.
