For its seventh-year, GRLPWR returns with its newest chapter, Beyond the Frame: a month-long celebration of women, beauty, and the arts.

More than an annual beauty campaign, GRLPWR has evolved into a celebration of self-expression and feminine strength. This year, Beyond the Frame shines a spotlight not only on luxury beauty but on the voices and visions of Filipina artists and creatives shaping today’s cultural landscape.
At Rustan’s Beauty Source, beauty takes on a deeper dimension. Alongside curated selections from the world’s most coveted beauty houses, the space comes alive with works by Filipina artists across photography, visual art, performance, and more, each offering their distinct and personal perspective on identity, confidence, and modern womanhood.
Through this intersection of beauty and the arts, GRLPWR presents empowerment not as an abstract idea, but as something seen, experienced, and shared, inviting women to celebrate themselves and one another in a space that honors creativity, individuality, and expression
A Gallery Where Modern Beauty Converges
Rustan’s transforms its beauty spaces into a gallery of modern femininity, encouraging every woman to step beyond stereotypes and into her most confident self.
From March 1–31 at Rustan’s Shangri-La, three Filipina creatives interpret “I Create, Therefore I Am” through photography, movement, and textile: each grounded in personal memory and lived experience. Filipina photographer and former child prodigy Shaira Luna exhibits Days Are Long (2015), a nostalgic series capturing her young neighbors in intimate moments of girlhood—sharing secrets, playing dress-up, and discovering themselves—preserving the quiet rituals that shape identity and our understanding of one another. Multidisciplinary movement artist Alison Black presents a dance film that marks her return to creating for joy rather than perfection, shifting from rigidity to presence and embodying strength, vulnerability, and femininity through contemporary choreography. Artist and designer Martina Lebron unveils KUNDIMAN on silk, a wearable art piece inspired by the Filipino love song, where Sampaguita motifs and a striped grid reminiscent of guitar strums translate longing, romance, and cultural nostalgia into modern visual form.
On display at the Rustan’s Makati Beauty Courtyard from March 1–31, painter Camille Oster Yu contributes serene yet sophisticated abstractions inspired by the fluid elegance of koi, offering layered palettes that evoke healing, softness, and mindful introspection. Multimedia artist and architect Tara Soriano transforms the exhibition into an experiential landscape, merging light, structure, and digital expression to create an immersive environment where empowerment feels expansive and intentionally designed. Interior designer and painter Rachel Le Roux centers the female form in works that explore fabric and body with painterly softness, her layered pigments echoing fine textiles to celebrate contour, texture, strength, and sensuality.
Together, their works affirm creation as a deeply personal act; an ongoing expression of story, culture, and becoming.
Beyond the artworks themselves, the exhibition unfolds as a fully immersive experience, inviting guests not only to observe beauty, but to inhabit it.
Guests will enter a world shaped by sculptural minimalism and sweeping architectural forms. Monolithic pillars frame the entrance, creating depth and grandeur while setting the tone for a refined yet powerful atmosphere. The space mirrors a contemporary art museum, where clean lines and bold artistry meet timeless feminine strength.
A striking photowall becomes the focal point of the experience. An oversized frame invites guests to step forward as living artwork, surrounded by Greek-inspired plinths and sculptural elements that echo classical beauty with a modern perspective. It is an invitation to embody art rather than simply observe it.
The atmosphere is elevated further through sound and movement. Live DJ performances by DJ Jimmy Nocon at Rustan’s Shangri-La and DJ Rafa at Rustan’s Makati bring dynamic energy to the space. Acoustic-electronic ensemble with a harpist and violinist, alongside contemporary dance performances and live beauty art installations will transform the venue into an evolving gallery of expression.
On March 7 from 11AM to 3PM (until supplies last), guests will get the chance to become artists themselves at The Crafting Corner. In collaboration with featured artists per store, participants can experiment with color and technique in interactive sessions that celebrate individuality leaving each guest not only with a personal creation but with a renewed connection to their own creativity.
