If you’re planning to hop on the MRT-3 or LRT-2 this Sunday, March 8, 2026, here’s a little something to make your commute lighter. In honor of International Women’s Day, female passengers will be able to ride both rail lines for free during peak hours.

Free rides will be available from 7 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM, covering the usual rush-hour windows. The offer was shared earlier this week on the social media pages of both MRT-3 and LRT-2.
International Women’s Day is observed worldwide to celebrate women’s achievements in political, cultural, and social spheres, and to highlight ongoing conversations about gender equality. In the Philippines, it also falls within Women’s History Month, when women’s contributions and causes are more closely recognized.
For women who will be commuting on Sunday, the free rides offer a brief but welcome pause from the usual fare. Just remember to plan your trip within the morning or evening window to take advantage of the perk.
