Once again, ‘Money Heist’ has left us hanging with a crazy cliffhanger at the end of Season 4… which is surprising. I don’t know about you, but I totally expected their second heist to end with Season 4 the same way that the first heist ended after two seasons. Apparently, that wasn’t the case. With a cliffhanger like that, it’s almost guaranteed that there will be a Season 5, right?
Technically, Season 5 hasn’t been green-lit yet; but creator Alex Pina has insinuated that some discussions are already happening despite no details being officially released yet. And with ‘Money Heist’ being one of the most popular series on Netflix at the moment, we’re being hopeful.
While Spanish website Marca has reported two more upcoming seasons, we’ll wait until Netflix itself actually makes the announcement. Besides, script coordinator Javier Gomez Santander admits that they don’t think that far ahead and instead go ‘game by game, chapter by chapter, sequence by sequence’. “We do not ever consider how long the show can last,” he admitted. “If we got to know the scope of the phenomenon, we wouldn’t have thought to kill Berlin.”
It took nine months for us to get a new season after Season 3 wrapped up, but that’s unlikely to happen this time around. On March 15, Netflix paused production on all of its original series due to the coronavirus epidemic, and there still isn’t any word on when this pause will be lifted.
