Say goodbye to the heat of the Metro, and hello to the breeze of Tagaytay. Your tired selves will surely be thanking you for it.

4. BAGOONG CLUB

Start your day off with lunch at the Bagoong Club for some good old Filipino food. Even though you’re around two thousand feet above sea level, a cold drink still wouldn’t hurt. Their watermelon shakes and sago’t gulaman are so cool and sweet, you’ll feel like you’re in heaven. Take a sip while reaching for the clouds. When in Tagaytay, you know they’re not far away.

Tease your taste buds with the classic Filipino appetizer of ukoy. They come to your table in mountains, and taste just like French fries!

Ready yourself for the main event. Have your choice of bagoong or garlic rice right beside you as you devour the Bagoong Club’s bestsellers. They know how to make a crispy pata, and their grilled and crispy pork binagoongans are must-tries, but save some room for their bulalo sa monggo. They were the first to put these two dishes together, and it works!

After pigging out for lunch, why not choose some healthy alternatives for your afternoon snack? Also in Twin Lakes is the Farm Organics. The name says it all. Everything on the menu is absolutely organic, but – surprisingly! – very good.

Chow down on one of their farmer’s burgers. Wouldn’t it be nice to take on one of these babies without the guilt? At the Farm Organics, it’s possible.

Also try one of the many drinks they offer. Their avocado shake is fresh, healthy, and definitely cool for the summer.

  1. SILVER BUCKET

End the day with a sumptuous feast at the Silver Bucket. They pride themselves in their talent for cooking seafood because they sure know what they’re doing. We dare you to try their mariscos paella and tell us otherwise.

They also make a mean baby back ribs. Its meat is almost as soft as the bed of mashed potatoes it sits on. To be honest, you won’t be able to tell the difference between them at first bite. That is until the explosion of flavors begins to hit you.

Wash all of these down with their freshly-made apple cucumber cooler. You may be high up on a plateau, but you’ll feel like you’re right beside the beach with just one sip.

You wouldn’t find the need to go to Boracay. The majestic view of the Taal Lake will be more than enough. Pair that with the cool temperatures of Tagaytay, and you’ll be going home completely satisfied.

Take your food outside and marvel at the view. It’s simply the best. A trip to Twin Lakes may seem like quite a day, but it sure is worth it. Now go set aside a day of your summer for some much-needed rest and relaxation (and food!) at this Tagaytay must.
