Here’s What You Can Expect From SB19 This 2020

Every fangirl’s dream is to meet their idols up-close and personal. Well, that’s exactly what happened when I was given the opportunity to attend SB19’s ‘ALAB’ Press Conference on January 10, 2020, at Novotel Manila. Honestly speaking, I was never an extreme fangirl of anything before SB19’s Go Up era came.

Yes, I first encountered them online through their posted dance practice video of Go Up. Since then, I’ve been hooked. I watched every vlog and video they had on their channel and scoured the Internet for interviews and show guestings, so I could always stay up-to-date with the latest happenings involving SB19.

A’TINs can fully agree that 2019 was SB19’s year. 2019 was the year the then-nameless fandom with official color received their official fandom name. It was the year the official SB19 logo was launched. Most of all, 2019 was the year SB19 received so much recognition and so many awards that one of its members, Josh, said: “It feels like a dream”. Here are some of the awards and recognition SB19 received from 2019 up to writing this article:

  • Entered Billboard’s Next Big Sound (6th spot, Nov 20, 2019)
  • Debuted on Billboard’s Social 50 (19th spot, Dec 31, 2019)
  • 52 Weeks on Myx Daily Top 10 (Top 1 spot)
  • Favorite Group of the Year (RAWR Awards)
  • Most Favorite POP Boy Group of the Year (PPOP Awards for Young Artist)
  • Breakthrough Artist of the Year (5th Wish Music Awards, January 19, 2020)
  • Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year (5th Wish Music Awards, January 19, 2020)
  • Wishers’ Choice Award (5th Wish Music Awards, January 19, 2020)
  • Breakthrough Artist of the Year (The 10th TV Series Craze Awards 2019)
  • Fastest Rising Boygroup (The 10th TV Series Craze Awards 2019)

**As of writing, SB19 is now becoming a mainstay on the Social 50 Chart and has re-entered the 18th spot on the Next Big Sound Chart.

What I love about SB19 is how much they recognize and appreciate the efforts of their fans. They never forget to thank every single A’TIN out there for their continuous love and support and for always believing in them. To thank their fans, they launched a FREE nationwide concert tour where they visited 10 cities around the Philippines to perform and visit all of the A’TINs in the country. Then, on the 25th December, 3 days before their concert in Manila, SB19 released their third single, Alab ‘Burning’, under Sony Music Philippines.

Not everyone has gotten over all of these amazing activities and achievements yet. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better than that, I was proven wrong.

SB19 in 2020

On January 9, 2020, SB19 released their most awaited music video for Alab that immediately hit the top spot in Twitter world trends.  And on January 11, 2020, two days after its premiere, the music video reached 1 million views and hit 2 million views on January 20, 2020.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here it is:

The next day, a press conference was held to inform the media of what’s in store for SB19 for 2020. Sir Robin Geong, aka “Tatang Robin” presented this year’s lineup of exciting events that all A’TINs should look forward to.

SB19 Alab Press Con 6

Let’s take a breather from all of this fantastic news. Inhale, exhale ka muna diyan. Hinga muna, kapatid. After Tatang Robin presented the year-long plan for 2020, the media was given the chance to ask the boys questions after their performance of ‘Alab’. I asked about the meaning of the boys’ roles in the music video since many theories have been circulating decoding the meaning of each member’s part. There’s a separate article for this so STAY TUNED & STAN SB19!
