Has it ever crossed your mind what happened to all the incentives, cash prizes, and freebies that brands promised when Hidilyn Diaz won at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo?

Among the incentives she was promised was a lifetime supply of free fuel—something social media users couldn’t help but feel jealous about, especially as fuel costs continue to rise worldwide amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
However, it appears that the promised lifetime fuel incentive has not been received. At this point, they also have not heard anything from the fuel company that initially offered the reward.
Manuel Noel Ferrer, Hidilyn Diaz’s manager, hinted in a Facebook post that the promised “lifetime free fuel supply” has yet to materialize.
“Lifetime fuel supply sa 1st Filipino Olympic Gold Medalist; pagpapabalik sa Pinas kina Zaldy Co at Harry Roque; at sa senado kay Bato; pagpapanagot ng Comelec sa campaign donations; pagpapakulong ng big fish sa flood control scandal—puro drawing (A lifetime fuel supply for the first Filipino Olympic gold medalist. The supposed return of Zaldy Co and Harry Roque to the Philippines; the Senate holding the Comelec accountable over campaign donations; and the jailing of the “big fish” in the flood control scandal—none of these have happened),” Noel wrote in a Facebook post.
In a separate Facebook post, the manager captioned: “Parang drawing naman po ang lifetime (It seems like lifetime was just an empty promise).”
The manager no longer shared more specific details about the matter.
Hidilyn Diaz is a Filipino weightlifter who won the women’s 55kg division in Weightlifting at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. With this career feat, she brought home the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medal in nearly nine decades.
Years after her Olympic win, she is now empowering the next generation of students and aspiring athletes as a lecturer at the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics (UP-CHK).
