Rags2Riches (R2R), a fashion and design house empowering Filipino artisans, is on a new chapter in our 8-year journey as a growing social enterprise! Early this month, they moved to a new (and bigger!) home in Quezon City but haven’t properly celebrated it yet. They decided to have some sort of a really fun housewarming activity where their R2R advocates can join them! Because why not, right? 😉
For the very first time in R2R history, they’re inviting advocates to go behind the scenes and experience the process of making an R2R bag – you can choose between a Buslo or Barco. Advocates get to tour their new HQ and workshop, too!
This workshop is happening this weekend, June 25 to 26, with a fee of Php 3,999.00. The workshop fee covers the bag you get to take home, a weaving workshop and the drop-in purse you also get to bring home, and a whole lot of other awesome perks that an R2R advocate will surely love.
Here are 8 exclusive perks for workshop attendees:
8. Choose the color or get first dibs on their yet to be released rare prints for the handwoven panel of your MYO bag
#R2Rrareprints from the past months
Every month, R2R has printed limited edition woven fabrics for their classic bag styles and they always seem to run out the moment they launch them! They’re THAT pretty. Well, good news for workshop attendees: you get first dibs on our rare prints for the month of July, weeks before they officially launch them. Yes, your make-your-own (MYO) Buslo or Barco will be the first to get these rare prints!
Here’s a sneak peek:

7. Have your initials hand-stamped on the leather tag of your customized Buslo or Barco
R2R has a cool, new letter-stamping machine in their workshop that allows you to personalize your bags with your initials or your letters of choice. It’s the first time they’re using and sharing this feature with everyone so again, workshop attendees get first dibs!
6. Learn the signature R2R basket weave from the R2R artisans themselves
Aside from making your own tote, you also get a weaving workshop
It’s just like their regular Weaving with the Weavers workshop events but since this one will be held in their actual workshop with sewing machines and other equipment, you will be weaving a zippered drop-in purse for your MYO bags! You also get to choose the color of the zipper tape and the fabric you and the R2R artisans will be weaving together.
5. Tour the R2R HQ and workshop area where all their products are made and assembled
Meet Kuya Jimbo, the R2R workshop’s head sewer
This is for the R2R advocates who have always been curious as to how they make their bags! Some of their workshop artisans will be present this weekend to make your Buslo or Barco and to also show you how their workshop operates behind the scenes.
4. Exclusive 20% discount when you shop in their showroom on the day of the workshop
Our new showroom is well-stocked with freshly woven bestsellers
Workshop attendees will get a special 20% off for showroom purchases above Php 1,000. This makes for a more meaningful and joyful shopping experience – everything will be freshly woven, straight from the talented hands of their workshop artisans!
3. Bring home a Weave Joyful Stories canvas tote bag
A reminder to always #WeaveJoyfulStories
You’ll be able to put the MYO bag and handwoven purse you’re bringing home (plus other handwoven purchases you’re planning on making!) in this tote that has a reminder to always weave joyful stories.
2. Enjoy light refreshments from their beverage partners, Bayani Brew and Bo’s Coffee
R2R’s favorite local beverage partners, Bayani Brew and Bo’s Coffee, will be there to serve refreshing iced tea and coffee for the workshop attendees. They’ll also be serving light snacks to keep you energized during the workshop!
1. And finally, meet their team and artisans
R2R’s joyful team of workshop artisans
Aside from their workshop artisans, some of the R2R team members – like their president and co-founder, Reese Fernandez-Ruiz – will be there to give you a history and presentation of R2R and a quick tour of the HQ. They can’t wait to share joyful stories, answer and ask questions, and just hang out with all of you guys!
So, that’s EIGHT awesome reasons for you to attend their workshop this weekend. Bring your family and friends; the more, the merrier! Will we see you there at their HQ?
