15 years after it first graced the silver screen, and Spirited Away is still one of the most beloved animes all around the world. The film was released in 2001, directed by award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki, and produced under Studio Ghibli, who is also internationally known as a source of quality anime films.
Despite the underlying serious social relevance and symbolism of the film, it is Spirited Away’s whimsical nature and nostalgic themes on love, friendship, and family that has secured for it a spot in fans’ hearts.
