WATCH: Pentatonix’s Avi Kaplan Covers Outkast’s Hey Ya! with a Folk Music Twist

Avi Kaplan of Grammy-award winning acapella band Pentatonix left the group in May this year, primarily to pursue his own music career. Avi has reportedly always been a fan of folk music, stating Simon and Garfunkel, Iron and Wine, and Bon Iver to name a few, as some of his music influences.

Since leaving the group, he has formed his own folk band, called Avriel & the Sequioas. Avi frequents Sequioa National Park in California, thus the name.

In this new music video released by the band, Avi took on Outkast’s 2003 hit song, Hey Ya! but with his own folk twist, that came out really surprisingly amazing. Watch the music video here:
