A giant Godzilla-like monster is aimlessly ruining cities, but it’s not what you think. He’s not exactly a villain in the story. In this unique, funny film that plays on the theme of kaiju, Japanese for giant monsters, what supposedly should be a Godzilla plot turns a little bit more complicated. And kind of hilarious.
An equally aimless protagonist in the story, Gloria, played by Anne Hathaway, moves back to her old town after having lost everything—her job, her boyfriends, her direction in life. But things take an unexpected turn when, on the other side of the globe, a giant monster shows up in the peaceful city of Seoul, Korea, destroying everything in its path. But here’s how Gloria is affected in this plot…she kind of unknowingly controls the monster.
