Yellow Cab serves more than just pizza. They’ve got ice cream, chicken wings, and pasta dishes, too. When talking about pasta, one of their bestsellers is the Charlie Chan Pasta. Dubbed as “unique Yellow Cab pasta”, this oriental-style pasta contains chicken strips, shiitake mushrooms, and roasted peanuts— all tossed together in a spicy sauce. It’s nutty, sweet, and spicy— complex flavors that make it a crowd favorite.

Charlie Chan Pasta

Ingredients

  • 500g Spaghetti Noodles
  • 300g boneless and skinless Chicken Thighs (or breast), diced
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. Lee Kum Kee Chili Garlic Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. Lee Kum Kee Char Siu Sauce (or 1 Tbsp hoisin sauce, 1 Tbsp. soy sauce, and 1 Tbsp. honey)
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 cup Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Roasted, Skinless Peanuts
  • chopped Green Onions for Garnish

Procedure

  1. In a large pan, set the heat to medium, and add the oil. Saute the onions and garlic until soft.
  2. Meanwhile, in another pot, boil water for your pasta. Cook the noodles until they’re slightly undercooked. Set aside.
  3. Saute the chicken cubes with your aromatics until they start to brown.
  4. Add in your sauces, mix them until combined, and add half a cup of pasta water. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked. Next, add in the peanuts and mix.
  5. Place the noodles into the sauce and finish cooking the noodles in the pan. Toss them together until the sauce coats each strand. When the sauce is sufficiently thick, turn off the heat.
  6. Garnish the dish with chopped green onions and serve. Enjoy!
