Everything about Calvin Harris these days is about how he was unceremoniously dumped (over the phone, allegedly) by his sweetheart Taylor Swift. What we seem to have forgotten is that Harris is a talented DJ with plenty of chart toppers and awards. This week, he reminded us that he is not just “Taylor Swift’s ex” with the release of his music video “This is What You Came For” with Rihanna.
Harris has previously recorded “We Found Love” and “Where Have You Been” with Rihanna for her Talk That Talk album. Like their previous collaborations, “This is What You Came For” is an EDM song, with a slower and more sensual feel.

“This is What You Came For” received mixed reviews, with Lary Barleet NME noting its mellow tropical house feel. However, Barleet also mentioned that the song manipulated “[Rihanna’s] voice so much he’s stripped away the personality that made ‘We Found Love’ such a standout.”
Harris started in the industry when he released I Created Disco, with the singles “Acceptable in the ’80s” and “The Girls.” He got attention for his second album Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was awarded a gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry, but he became famous for his third album 18 Months.
Since then, he has collaborated with Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, John Newman, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding, Ne-Yo, Cheryl Cole, Gwen Stefani, and Rihanna. From 2013 to 2015, Harris was the world’s highest-paid DJs, according to Forbes.
