Vikings Buffet: A Massive Feast Now Open in SM Megamall
When one says “Vikings” in Manila, one automatically thinks of the largest buffet area in the Philippines. Having redefined the standards of buffets and stylish dining across the country, Vikings has recently added a 5th branch to its already impressive roster of establishments: their SM Megamall branch! Like those before it, Vikings Megamall boasts of a wide-array of food selections that is sure to tickle the taste buds of even the pickiest eater. After all, when presented with cuisine ranging from Asian to American to International via over 200 dishes, you’re bound to find something to love!
Like the branches before it, Vikings Megamall ensures its patrons an “international standard of service, food safety and store cleanliness, luxurious ambiance, safety and security of guests and value for money.” And let’s not forget the interiors! My, oh my! Loved it! Now, in case you haven’t gone to their other branches yet (I will shamelessly say that I have been to all, but two), you’d notice that per branch, they have a certain motif going on.
For example, over at Vikings SM Mall of Asia, the restaurant stays trued to its name and is filled with Nordic elements. Their SM Marikina branch is meant to give off a cozy feeling ergo the abundance of sofa couches, plants and other homey elements. Vikings SM North EDSA is black and white themed and without further adieu, the SM Megamall branch’s peg is… an Art Museum! You first take notice of this when you’re queueing for your table. The security is very tight to ensure the safety of the diners, and almost everything is overseen by lovely ladies lining up a chic counter in front of the establishment. You’ll come across 2 lines of people waiting to get into the “museum”: those with reservations and those without.
In the event that you did not make a reservation and have to wait but are too tired to walk around t’il its your turn, then fret not, because all you have to do is take your number and take your pick among the many comfy chairs that Vikings has so lovingly provided for you to rest on. Once your number is called, you are then greeted by your server and as you make your way to the table, you begin to notice not only the abundance of beautifully displayed food, but the artistic elements, as well.
Case in point: there are several sculptures lined up all throughout the buffet line. There are several square tables that display a statue in the center that is detached from the table itself. You may even look up to see massive Andy Warhol inspired artworks. Up, down, left, right, your eyes may be overwhelemed by the artistic creations, whether it be food or the real thing!
Now, I don’t know about you, but whenever I head to museums, I go with the family. I always look forward to it, too, because it means that I’ll get to enjoy something that I love WITH people I love. And hey, I could definitely say that the feeling extends to Vikings Buffet! Vikings Buffet isn’t just a place for the young and the restless to go and hang out at to enjoy good food, but its the BEST place to hang out with your family! Vikings Buffet literally has food for every member of the family!
For the dads and the kuyas who love their meat, make a beeline to the meat section that has an impressive line up of roast beef tenderloin, roast wagyu, baby back ribs, lamb shank and more. You can also have the meat cooked to your liking and top it off with your choice of sauce: truffle gravy, mushroom gravy, mint jelly, etc.
For the health-conscious moms and ate’s, Vikings has a wide array of seafood and do it yourself mongolian bowls if you want to veer away from anything heartening or fried. One can also take their pick of fresh sashimi or sushi if you’re craving for Japanese.
