Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has gone viral on TikTok—and for wholesome reasons!

On TikTok, the Pasig City mayor posted a 57-second video about his style of handing out Pamaskong Handog—his Christmas aid to fellow Pasigueños this year. However, TikTok users had (wholesome and witty) comments about the public official’s “low quality” selfie video.

A TikTok user said: “Gamit na gamit ang CCTV sa city hall ng Pasig ah (The CCTV at Pasig City Hall is really overused).”
“Low quality man ang phone, high quality naman ang governance at serbisyo (The phone may be low quality, but the governance and service are high quality),” one commenter said.
In response, the 35-year-old mayor said: “Dami kong magandang sinabi pinagtatawanan niyo phone ko (I said a lot of good things, and yet you’re all laughing at my phone).”
While TikTok users have been hilariously posting comments on the mayor’s “low quality” selfie videos, social media users also commended his projects and the annual Christmas aid in the city.
As of writing, the public servant’s TikTok video has reached over five million views.
In a YouTube video posted by financial consultant Chinkee Tan in August, the 35-year-old mayor shared that he often receives humorous remarks about his current phone but isn’t affected at all.
“Wala ako masyadong pakialam kung ano ang tingin ng ibang tao (I don’t really care much about what other people think),” the mayor said. “Importante na secure ka sa sarili mo, hindi mo kailangan ipakita sa tao ‘yung meron ako (What’s important is that you’re secure in yourself; you don’t need to show others what you have).”
In October 2024, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for his third and final term as the local chief executive in the city.
