UPLB Sandayaw Presents “PAG-ALAB” Cultural Dance Showcase

Celebrating over two decades of cultural advocacy through dance, the UPLB Sandayaw Cultural Group, a folk dance organization based at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, proudly announces its production, “PAG-ALAB: Ang Ningas ng Kulturang Filipino”, to be staged on October 16 and 17, 2025, at the DL Umali Hall, UPLB.

True to its name, which means “to ignite,” the concert aims to kindle a burning passion to keep Filipino culture alive. The production will take the audience on a vibrant journey across the archipelago, showcasing a curated selection of folk and traditional dances that tell the stories of the Cordillera highlands, the festive rural lowlands, and the rich, diverse cultures of Mindanao.

For more than 20 years, the UPLB Sandayaw Cultural Group has served as a pillar of cultural preservation within the university and beyond. Their work extends past the stage into communities across the country, where they conduct workshops and performances to share the beauty and depth of Philippine heritage. “PAG-ALAB” stands as the organization’s latest embodiment of its long-standing mission to preserve the nation’s tradition.

Rooted in the dynamic academic and cultural landscape of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Sandayaw reflects the university’s broader commitment to excellence not only in the field of sciences, for which UPLB is widely recognized, but also in the arts, culture, and the humanities. This concert is a manifestation of the flourishing co-existence and growth of both the arts and sciences within the university.
