Update on Michiko: Rescued Puppy

Three months ago, I rescued a starving puppy in Sta. Ana, Manila. She was lying on the road, very thin and weak. When I picked her up, she immediately snuggled up to me. One of her hind legs was injured. With so many abandoned animals on the streets, even those in the animal welfare and rescue volunteer work learn not to look at every stray dog or cat or else we shall go insane with wanting to rescue each and every one of them. But it seemed like destiny called me to Michiko, as we later named her. I was at the front seat of the jeep that stopped exactly beside the spot Michiko was lying on.

With the help of Wheninmanila.com readers who donated for her medical expense, Michiko got well and filled out. Her limp is gone. She is spayed and up-to-date on her vaccine shots.

She has become so healthy that she is now a chubby puppy, a far cry from that time in February when I first saw her. Check her out.

She looks happy and healthy, right?

She is ready for adoption. She needs to find a forever home by May 15 as the CARA clinic needs to free up space for new rescues urgently.

Michiko is extremely affectionate. She will jump into your arms if you let ler. Now that she has gained weight and regained her fur, we realized that she is a Japanese-Spitz mixed. She is perfect for any family.

Thanks to the animal welfare organization Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) and Primitiva Vet Clinic (Onyx St., Paco, Manila) for helping with the rescue.
