From winning trophies in Europe, being granted the “Ani ng Dangal Award,” and many other recognitions, the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale (UPMC) is back on stage to present a three-part concert entitled Tanglaw: Pamana ng Himig this upcoming August 16, 2025, 7:00 PM, at the Adamson University Theater.
In pursuit of their commitment to artistry and advocacy, the UPMC strives to be the voice of UP Manila to the world, and part of it is promoting the rich cultural heritage of our homeland, the Philippines. As the country celebrates Buwan ng Wika, UPMC will look back on its national roots and pay homage to the talented pillars of Philippine music.
Under the baton of Mr. John Steven Verrosa, and with accompaniment by Mr. Martin Sean J. Inanuran, UPMC aims to pay homage to the works of the National Artists for Music. Their timeless songs have guided and shaped the country’s heritage, culture, and arts, also paving the way for our national artistry to be recognized beyond the local stage. Tanglaw serves to honor the works of Ryan Cayabyab, Levi Celerio, Lucio San Pedro, Lucrecia Kasilag, and other esteemed Filipino artists, breathing new life into the legacy they created. Through this concert, UPMC hopes to rediscover the richness of our culture and inspire the current generation to continue the musical traditions that embody Filipino identity, serving as a fitting tribute to this year’s Buwan ng Wika.
Regular tickets are priced at PHP 700 for orchestra and PHP 600 for balcony seats.
